>> more“You’d like to hear the story of the golem, would’nt you? I
must tell you straight off that I liked it a lot. And I was’nt the only
one. We all liked it. To our eyes, it was a saviour. A saviour both mute and unhappy.
That’s what it was. Nobody understood it because nobody lived up to it’s
heights. Do you know beings who exist only for altruism, who consecrate the slightest
of breaths, the slightest flicker of eyelids, the most infinitisemal parcel of
their existence to a vocation that is both unique and sacred: that of protecting
the life, the sleep and the future of the community, I know, we called it foolish.
We called it stupid, retarded, half-witted. That is not my opinion. It was a saint.”
Elie Wiesel
Hervé KOUBI has created an acrobatic and folk dance around the theme of
the Golem, which resolutely merges traditional music with contemporary gestures.
